Capture the imagination and bring your art to life
Your artist statement is like a window into your art and how you work. It’s at the centre of each body of work. It helps people understand and connect with you and your art, enhancing the experience.
It delves into your inspiration and motivation. Your creative processes. It goes deep into your work, and makes your art feel like a living thing.
Creative and versatile, it goes with your work when you’re:
- applying to exhibit with a gallery or museum
- applying for an award, grant or residency
- promoting your art in marketing materials (full version or a summary)
- needing words from the statement for a press kit or social media content
- needing hints and tips on what to say when you’re talking about your work
It might be used so widely it’s read by folk from all over the world. (No pressure, right? Ha!)
Writing about your art isn’t always easy.

Getting to the heart of your work is my super power.

I have loved working with Ali on my artist statement. After each draft she provided space for feedback, edits and discourse. I felt comfortable and understood. The end result was a true reflection of my art and practice.
I was looking for a copywriter who understood my needs as an artist, for both personal statements and SEO marketing copy. Thankfully I found Ali who exceeded my expectations and produced just what I needed, saving me so much time.
Ali gets to the core of how local artists approach their lives and careers so that readers can dive deeper into the stories, but those she interviews also discover more about themselves in the process. She creates strong visuals with her words and teaches us how to understand objects and topics far beyond what we can see and touch.
Ali shows a dedication to her craft and to the stories that she puts together. She always takes the time to understand her subject.
I’ve noticed the intricacies that she comes up with based on interviews she has done with me. She finds the heart of an issue and follows that path.

I acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of Australia. I pay my respects to the Elders past and present as the traditional Custodians of the lands and waters.
I acknowledge their living culture and their traditional art forms. I recognise that the land where I live, learn and work is Yugerra land and sovereignty was never ceded. I’m committed to building and sustaining respect and understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists.
